Description: TPM-31 PVC Paste Resin Overview: TPM-31 is a polyvinyl chloride (PVC) paste resin, produced through the micro-suspension polymerization process. It appears as a fine white powder and is designed for use in plastisols and organosols, where it forms flexible or semi-rigid PVC products after heat processing. TPM-31 is known for its excellent dispersibility, consistent viscosity, and compatibility with plasticizers and stabilizers. Structure: TPM-31 is a homopolymer of vinyl chloride (CH₂=CHCl). It consists of long chains of repeating vinyl chloride units (–CH₂–CHCl–)ₙ, giving it thermoplastic properties. Unlike rigid PVC, TPM-31 is designed specifically for paste or emulsion formulations, offering superior plasticizer absorption. Physical Properties: Appearance: Fine white powder Odor: Odorless K-Value: ~68 – 72 (indicative of medium molecular weight) Degree of Polymerization: ~1,200 – 1,400 Bulk Density: 0.35 – 0.50 g/cm³ Volatile Content: ≤ 0.4% Viscosity (at 25°C): Medium Solubility: Insoluble in water; swells in plasticizers to form a paste (plastisol) Reactivity and Compatibility: TPM-31 is chemically stable under normal conditions. It shows excellent compatibility with: Plasticizers (e.g., DOP, DINP, DBP) Stabilizers (Ca-Zn, Ba-Zn, tin compounds) Pigments and fillers used in flexible PVC formulations When heated, it gels and fuses into a continuous PVC film or solid, depending on the formulation. It should be protected from high temperatures before processing to prevent degradation and HCl evolution. Applications: Artificial Leather: Used in the topcoat and foam layers for flexible leather products. Flooring and Wall Coverings: Provides smooth finish and elasticity in vinyl flooring and wallpaper coatings. Dip Moulding: For gloves, handles, and grips where soft flexible PVC is required. Foamed PVC Products: Used in production of soft foamed materials and shoe soles. Coatings and Sealants: Suitable for spray or knife-coating formulations. Toys and Decorative Items: For plastisol molding and casting applications. Handling and Storage: Store in a cool, dry, and well-ventilated area away from heat and direct sunlight. Avoid moisture contact to maintain powder flowability. Recommended storage temperature: below 40°C. Use dust control measures when handling in bulk. Safety Information: TPM-31 is non-toxic and non-flammable in solid form but can release hydrogen chloride gas when overheated or burned. Use adequate ventilation and follow standard polymer handling guidelines. Refer to the Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) for detailed health and safety information. Packaging: Typically supplied in 25 kg woven bags or 500 kg jumbo bags with inner liner protection. Custom packaging available upon request.
